Error: LIVE could not sign you in because the Windows Live ID you entered does not exist or your password is incorrect.
You've entered the wrong Windows Live ID or password. Try your ID and password again. Your Windows Live ID is the e-mail address you gave when you signed up for Games for Windows – LIVE. You can sign in to Games for Windows – LIVE with your Windows Live ID if you have a Games for Windows – LIVE, Xbox Live, Xbox.com, or Zune account. If you haven't signed up for one of these services:
- If you have a local profile (that is, when you first started playing, you created a profile but didn't sign up for LIVE), press the LIVE Guide button on your controller (or the Home key on your keyboard). Sign in with your profile, and then click Personal Settings, click Join LIVE, and then go through the signup process.
- If you haven't created a profile yet, press the LIVE Guide button on your controller (or the Home key on your keyboard). Click Create New Profile and follow the online instructions to create a profile. At the Save Profile step, click Join LIVE to sign up for Games for Windows – LIVE.
When you sign up for LIVE, you'll have the opportunity to select an existing Windows LIVE ID or create a new one. This is the Windows LIVE ID you'll use to sign in to LIVE.
Error: Can't connect to LIVE.
Your PC can't connect to LIVE. This is usually because of a network problem. Verify that your PC is connected to the Internet by opening a web page in your browser. If you can connect to the Internet, check your firewall to make sure port 3074 is open and available for Games for Windows – LIVE. Make sure that the ports required by your game are open as well.
If you are attempting to connect to LIVE using the Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG network card, the wireless connection on your computer may be dropped. Please install the latest driver available from Intel to fix this problem.
Error: Can’t connect to LIVE. Make sure the selected network adapter can connect to the Internet and try again.
Your PC can't connect to LIVE because Games for Windows - LIVE does not find the correct network adapter on your system. You must have a network adapter with a valid IP address and a valid gateway address. For instructions on how to manually select the network adapter used by Games for Windows – LIVE, see the connectivity issues topic.
If you are asked to connect to the Internet after you start the game (for example, you sign in to LIVE and then the Dial-up Connection box appears), close and restart the game. Your Internet connection must be established before you start the game.
If you're connected to the Internet using PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet) and are still having trouble connecting to Games for Windows – LIVE, please call customer support.
This error may also occur if your network is blocking the port Games for Windows – LIVE needs to connect. Contact your network administrator to make sure the port is open.
To check the port used by Games for Windows – LIVE
- On your PC, start your game. Press the Guide button (center round button) on your controller or the Home key on your keyboard to open the Guide.
- After signing in, click Personal Settings, Network Information.
- Look at the entry for Internet IP Address. The number after the colon is your port. Request that your network administrator open this port.
If you can't get the port opened on your network, you can override it.
To override the port used by Games for Windows – LIVE
- Open your registry in the Windows registry editor.
- Navigate to the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Software\Microsoft\XLive
- Add a new DWORD value. Enter LivePortOverride as the name and the new port number as the value. This value must be greater than 5000 and less than 65535.
Error: Your LIVE membership information is not valid. Please use a profile that contains a valid membership.
The profile you're signing in with doesn't contain the right user information to sign in to LIVE.
If your profile is automatically signing in, click your gamer card, click Disable Auto Sign-In, click Back, and then sign out. If you're not automatically signing in, just sign out.
Click Sign In, click Sign in with Another Account, and then sign in with your current Windows Live ID and password.
Error: You were signed out of LIVE because another person signed in using your account.
Your profile can only be signed into LIVE on one PC or console at a time. If you are connect to LIVE on one PC, and then try to sign in on another one with the same profile, the profile on the first PC will automatically sign out.
Error: The profile could not be signed in to LIVE. There may be a network problem or the Windows Live ID service may not available.
There was a problem signing in using your Windows Live ID. Verify that your PC is connected to the Internet. To check your Windows Live ID, and go to http://account.live.com to verify that you can sign in to Windows Live. You can also try signing in to your account at www.xbox.com.
Error: Can't download the update. Make sure that you are connected to the Internet.
